I would like to hear everyone's opinion on the Civic 14' hx rims. I am wondering if they are worth getting, i am looking for a set of rims that is strong, reliable, light, better handling, good for racing. I have a set on my CRX, and they're awesome. The light weight is pretty cool too- considering how often I have to haul them off the car.
They have problems clearing the Most people just grind some material off the calipers to make them fit without hitting the wheels. I have a set of 13" hx wheels I'm about to sell on ebay, if you're interested make me an offer.
They have good tires on them too. Well if the RH CP are weak wheels, probably not worth it. I mean I like light. But don't really know what wheels are light and strong. Looks like any super light wheels will be weak anyways.. So I guess for a good balance of light, strong, safety of wheels not getting stolen, and price the stock Miata wheels is the way to go.
If not the stock miata, maybe rotas. The CP's are indeed weak. I ruined 2 sets of 18" CPR models a few years back. I cant say for sure. It seems the Honda wheels are already out of the question. I believe the HX wheels are 14x5 and "5 is too narrow. Even the ''93 oem Miata wheels are "5. Wow, man how does companies sell this wheels, being so weak. Well I guess they are really meant for track usage and not for everyday use.
Heard the Volk TE37 aren't so strong either, and I've seen many of those bent as well. Well reading more about light weight rims, and hearing that people with 45 tires going over medium size rocks or pine cones can lead to "bubbling" or bending of the rims.
Well if I got 15" I would be using series tires which isn't too far from 45series. Maybe I should get 14" since 60 series has a lot more cushion? Originally posted by tadaima: Wow, man how does companies sell this wheels, being so weak.
I guess you can bend any wheel, but I'd vote for the TE37 as some of the toughest out there. I'll also vote against the cps -- despite their great looks, I've personally seen all three sets I know of bent very badly.
