With the passage of time, some of those critics have reappraised the film. But while a section of fans have long called for a sequel, The Losers 2 never materialised. And, I mean, really amazing cast when you look at it now. I think something got lost on the other end of things. But Morgan blames the way it was marketed.
And with this amazing cast — Chris Evans and Idris Elba and Zoe Saldana — and a great story and the great graphic novel to go off of, the ball was dropped. Warner Bros. The Losers crashed and burned at the box office, though. It had a limited international release, as it never made it to China, Japan, and other major international markets. Since The Losers barely made more than its budget, it should not be a surprise that Warner Bros. So why did The Losers fail so badly at the box office?
Looking back at the film's marketing, The Losers ' trailers heavily focused on the action and comedy that the film contained, which is a good representation of the movie itself really. What might have hurt The Losers , even more, is the competition around it at the box office.
It also likely didn't help that the movie was repeatedly compared to A-Team , which had a reboot launch later that summer that performed incredibly well.
